Preparing for Laser Hair Removal
At Renew Beauty Med Spa and Salon, we offer laser hair removal treatments to help our patients deal with unwanted and embarrassing body hair. If you have already scheduled your complimentary consultation or laser hair removal appointment at our clinic in Dallas, there are still a number of steps you can take to make sure that you are prepared for your appointment.
Avoid Sun Exposure
We advise our patients avoid sun exposure for 1-4 weeks before their treatments. Because laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicle, extra melanin in the skin from sun exposure can make it difficult for the laser to target the hair. This also means that you should refrain from tanning lotions to make sure that your skin is as light as possible for your treatment.
Refrain from Plucking or Waxing
Limiting waxing or plucking the treatment area several weeks prior to your treatment can also help make sure that you get the best possible results. Our lasers destroy the hair follicles, and so any hair removal method that removes the hair at the root will affect the laser’s results.
Shave Before Your Appointment
While you should avoid plucking and waxing, it is encouraged that you shave before coming in for your treatment. Shaving only removes the visible part of the hair and leaves the root intact for the laser treatment. In fact, shaving before your treatment can help make the procedure more comfortable by removing any hair above the skin that the lasers can target.
When you come in for your complimentary consultation at our clinic in Dallas, we will discuss any concerns you may have and help make sure that you are completely prepared to get amazing results from your laser hair removal treatment.
