What is sun-damaged skin?

Sun damaged skin may occur if you spend long hours in the sun without taking the proper precautions to protect your skin. Some of the evident symptoms of sun damage may include but are not limited to changes in skin texture such as wrinkling, changes in pigment, lesions, or moles may occur. If you think that you are suffering from sun damage, then feel free to stop by so that we may be able to help you find a suitable treatment for you.

What steps may I take to protect my skin?

There are a few ways you may be able to protect your skin from receiving sun damage or becoming more damaged. To start, it may be a great idea to reduce your exposure to the sun by using shade, loose fitting clothing, or even both. In addition, it may be beneficial to apply a sunscreen which covers the full spectrum, such as SPF 15-50. Lastly, it may be good to wear protective headwear, such as a hat or scarf.*

What treatments may help sun-damaged skin?

There are a few treatments which may be able to help reduce or entirely reverse the effects of sun damage. Some the treatments may include but are not limited to photodynamic therapy, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion, or Botox may be a great option.*

Photodynamic Therapy

With the use of a photosensitive agent and a certain wave length of light, the skin that is tough and hard or even precancerous can be removed. The light works with the agent by killing of the troublesome skin cells and may improve the overall texture of your skin.*

Chemical Peels

With a chemical peel, you may be able to choose the strength you are looking for which may be great for helping you achieve your skin goal. The chemical in the product works by drying out the skin, causing it to harden and peel away after the procedure.*

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing works through the use of pulsated light on the skin. Through this, the outer layer of skin is removed, and the layer of skin underneath is revealed and produces more collagen and elastin. This may allow for the new skin to become more firm and blend seamlessly as if you didn't have a treatment done.*

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a treatment which can be equated to sanding. With the use of a minimally abrasive tool which contains fine crystals, the outer layer of skin is removed. In addition, the newer layer will mimic the skin’s natural healing process and produce an increase in collagen and elastin.*

Dermal Filler

While a dermal filler does not remove the skin, it may help the wrinkles and creases that you find unsightly possibly disappear. The product works by filling in the space that is lacking volume with this filler, possibly giving the appearance as if you haven't creased or just started doing so. Some of the dermal fillers that we offer may include a Juvederm product, such as the original, Voluma, or Vollure, Restylane product, such as the original, Lyft, Refyne, or Defyne, or Radiesse!
